Our 2 family friendly countryside gites sit in the Charente-Maritime area of France. Surrounded by stunning vineyards and sunflower fields and within easy reach of Bordeaux, Cognac and the beautiful beach resorts of Meschers, Royan and La Rochelle, La Maison Bleue really is a wonderful place to relax and enjoy life.
We are Rae and JC Adam and we moved to France in May 2011 to escape our hectic lives in London. We have 2 young children and we longed to spend more time with them and each other. I am British and lived in London for over 23 years working in Soho as a client services director for Turner broadcasting’s childrens properties. JC is French and lived in London for over 27 years running restaurants. His last job before we left was for Terence Conran and Peter Prescots new venture The Boundary Restaurant and Hotel in Shoreditch (so he knows a lot about wine and hospitality)! Our children are Myles (5) and Lola (11 months).
We both have a passion for travelling, food and visiting new places and when we started having children that didn’t stop us. We have learnt about what we like, want and need from a holiday when travelling with children and we have tried to apply that to our gites, so all you need to pack when leaving your home are your essentials. But don’t despair if you don’t have kids as our gites are set up so you don’t have to look at sterilisers and highchairs if there is absolutely no use for them!
